The I-86 WEBSITE
Building an Interstate/Completing New York's Interstate System

This website has been designed to enhance the traveler's experience along the Southern Tier and Hudson Valley and to promote and accelerate the upgrading of Route 17, allowing Interstate 86 designation. This website complements the
I-86 TRAVEL GUIDE, published and printed twice a year by "The Evening Tribune" in Hornell, New York.

The segment of this website pertaining to I-86 designation speaks to the I-86 Corridor, and the New York I-86 Coalition. It also provides maps showing the remaining projects, allowing access to information pertaining to each plan.

A map is provided showing the Interstate system before and after the interstate designation. Links are also provided to all aspects of I-86 and the counties along the route. Interstate 86 will connect to every other New York State interstate and all interstates leading into Pennsylvania.

It is no longer a question of whether or not New York State and the Federal Government should complete New York's interstate system. It is a matter of keeping the I-86 project on the timetable committed by the above. With some acceleration, Governor Pataki, local, state and Federal elected officials from along the I-86 Corridor can be cutting the ribbon at the Chemung/Steuben boundary in December, 2008, designating Route 17 as Interstate 86 to Orange County.
